Note from the Critic

Because of some minor problems, I will not be able to post critiques every day, and will most likely not be visiting restaurants very often. This means that there won't be very many critiques, and this blog won't be very busy. I wish that you will stay with me, though, and you don't just forget about the blog and never visit it again.

Orangeville; July 17th, 2011

July 17, 2011
Nifty Nook
Lunch: The Club Sandwich with Fries
This sandwich is big, just a warning. It's got what a normal club sandwich has in it. Bacon, chicken, lettuce, tomato, three slices of bread, ect. From what I could tell, the fruits & veggies in it were fresh, and not bad. The bacon was cooked too long, as it was too crispy for a sandwich. The toast was a bit burnt, too. The chicken was not cooked enough, and was way too dry.
Service: Slow.
Overall: 3 stars. Although the sandwich wasn't very good, and neither was the service, different dishes at this restaurant are delicious.

Niagara On the Lake; Thursday, July 7th, 2011

Mediterranean Yanni's Bistro
Breakfast
Main Course: Meat Lover's Omelet
This course was surprisingly good, after the milk we were served being bad and the food taking ages to get here. The omlet was well made, with the perfect amount of meat and not too much cheese to cover the meat taste, but not too little that you can't taste it at all. The bread served with the omelet was not as good, as the bread was dry and only one type of jam was available. Recommended for those with lots of time on their hands and those who don't like bread or just like strawberry jam.
Service: So-so. The main older woman was terrible, and didn't know that the milk was bad, even though it was quite obvious. Our waitress was much better, and very nice. So good and bad makes it ok.
Overall: About a 2. The omelet was great, but everything else wasn't.

Neither Lunch nor Dinner was eaten at a restaurant.

Niagara On the Lake, Niagara Falls; July 6th, 2011

July 6th, 2011
Breakfast, Stagecoach Family Restaurant (Niagara On the Lake)
Drink: Chocolate Milk
The Chocolate Milk here is real, thick, cold and delicious. Recommended for all ages.
Appetizer: Fruit Salad
The Fruit in the fruit salad at this venue is fresh tasty, juicy and cold. Some of the fruit was not fresh enough, which made it hard and tasteless. Not recommended.
Main Course: Hungryman's Special
This meal has 6 humongous pancakes, 2 eggs made to your preferences, and your choice of ham, bacon or breakfast sausage. The meal in general was a bit too salty, the eggs were done well, and the toast was toasted for the perfect amount of time. Recommended if you are very hungry.
Service: Very Good Service
Overall: 3 1/5 out of 5 Stars

Lunch, Boston Pizza (Niagara Falls)
Appetizer: French Onion Soup
The French Onion Soup here was not as good as the others I've had previously. The cheese didn't go very well with the soup, and the bread was way too soggy, and the cheese and bread took up half of the bowl, so there wasn't much room for the actual soup. Although the actual onion part as good, I didn't enjoy this meal very much. Not recommended.
Main Course: Chipolte Sauce with Bacon Penne
The Pasta in this course was cooked to a good amount, which, again, is easy to do. The Chipolte sauce was spicy, but not too much. It had too much cheese in it, and there wasn't enough of the sauce in general. The tomatoes and the mushrooms go very well with this meal, and the meal looks very good when brought to you be the waiter. Recommended to pasta-lovers.
Service: Not very good, our table wasn't clean when we arrived there.
Overall: 2 out of 5. The food was good, but there were bugs flying everywhere throughout the restaurant, and at one point we had to kill a hornet so we could eat in peace.

Dinner Was Not Eaten At A Restaurant

Tuesday, 5 July 2011

Niagara On the Lake; July 5th, 2011

July 5th, 2011
Lunch: Angel Inn
Appetizer: French Onion Soup
This soup is a great starter, as it is filling enough to keep your hunger at bay until your meal arrives, but not too filling so you  can actually finish your main meal. The cheese on the soup compliments the taste of the onions very well, and the bread is not to soggy, but not too hard, and went perfectly with the soup. The soup didn't have a huge amount of onions, which is good, because that would be too much. The cheese, although good, was way too chewy; there was too much cheese in the soup. Overall, I would highly recommend this soup as an appetizer.
Main Course: Angus Burger with all toppings
The Angus burger at this venue was astonishing. It could hardly fit in my mouth, it was so tall. But it was superb. The bacon was not too crunchy, but not too soft, likewise was the lettuce. The cheese was perfectly melted, and the mushrooms were delicious. The meat was well done, not too hot. I would recommend this for meat lovers.
Service: Great service
Overall: 4 out of 5 stars

Dinner: Corks
Appetizer: French Onion Soup
This soup was very hot when it was served; just a warning. It was not served with good cheese, and it was served on a terrible piece of hard bread. The soup didn't have very much onions, which is idiotic, because look at it's name. Definitely not a good starter.
Main Course: Gnocci Pesto
This was horrid. The pesto sauce was not done well, but the gnocci was cooked well (not a very hard thing to do).
Service: Terrible, we sat down and didn't get any menus, so we had to get them ourselves.
Overall: 1. Gave me & my friend stomach problems.
